Is the treatment different from Home Use Cosmetic Roll CIT?

Our Medical Grade Roll CIT Roller has a needle length is 1.5 mm, whereas the Cosmetic Roll CIT for home use is only set at 0.2-0.5 mm. Therefore results will be much more effective.

How is the Treatment Administered?

Skin Needling procedures are performed in a very safe and precise manner with the use of single-use sterile Medical Grade Roll CIT. The procedure is normally completed within 30-45 minutes. Before the procedure commences a topical anesthetic will be applied to the skin to ensure your comfort and a painless experience. After the skin is numbed, the practitioner gently rolls the Medical Grade Roll CIT over the client's skin to puncture the outermost layers of the skin and create minuscule sub-cutaneous injuries. These microscopic wounds stimulate new collagen and elastin deposition which may last for up to a year, yet they close within less than an hour.

What is the Skin Appearance After the Treatment?

After the procedure the skin will be red and flushed in appearance in a similar way as moderate sunburn. You will also experience skin tightness and mild sensitivity to touch. This will diminish greatly after a few hours following treatments and within the next 24 hours the skin will be completely healed. After 3 days there is barely any evidence that the procedure has taken place.

Post-Treatment Recommendations

Immediately after the procedure...
• On completion of the micro-needling, the skin is washed using an anti-bacterial wash with sterile water and then an Environ Vitamin product is applied.

• To further maximize collagen and elastin production of the skin we advocate an Ionzyme DF treatment immediately post or within three days of treatment.

After the skin has healed...
• Make-up may be used when the skin is completely healed or a high quality mieral makeup such as Jane Iredale may be applied.

Follow-up Treatments

Collagen Channeling for Natural Collagen Induction Therapy

Many clinicians believe that laser resurfacing is the most successful way to rejuvenate a face. But why destroy the epidermis of the skin to make it look smoother? The epidermis is our only protection from the environment. To rejuvenate facial skin we need a perfect epidermis.

The principle of the Medical Roll-Cit™ is that the “micro-needles” only penetrate through the epidermis and does not remove it, so the epidermis is only cleft and will rapidly heal. This injury, minute as it might seem, does cause some localised damage and bleeding. Percutaneous induction of collagen results from the natural response to wounding the skin, even though the wound is miniscule.

Roll-Cit™ Micro-needling causes microscopic breaks in the blood vessels immediately below the surface layer of the skin (epidermis) and this releases platelets that are important for making blood clot when a blood vessel has been opened. The platelets release a series of growth factors which promote the production of collagen and elastin amongst other things. Of course this happens at a microscopical level and we need to boost the chain of events to promote as much elastin and collagen as we can in order to tighten and smoothen the skin as much as possible. The one way that we know we can boost collagen production is to prepare the skin with vitamin A prior to the treatment and then maintain an enhanced state of collagen and elastin production by continuing the skin care regime thereafter. Vitamin A, as acts on the DNA of about 1000 genes, and amongst it’s many other actions, stimulates the production of collagen. The version of vitamin A that you use could be the medical form, Retinoic acid (Tretinoin) or the pre-cursors of retinoic acid, which are retinol, retinyl palmitate/acetate or retinyl aldehyde. Environ products have been specially formulated to supply doses of vitamin A to equate to the effects of retinoic acid without inducing irritation such as a retinoid reaction. Vitamin A, one can say, switches on the factories for collagen and elastin; however, normal collagen cannot be made without vitamin C. Therefore topical vitamin C is an essential co-factor to be used in addition to vitamin A. Once again, Environ products have been designed to deliver high dose of vitamin C that actually penetrates into the skin cells and induces the high levels of vitamin C that are required when we need to make greater amounts of collagen. Vitamin C itself also stimulates the production of collagen through activity on the DNA.

In order to promote even greater collagen and elastin formation as well as normalisation of the skin, special treatments are also recommended. These treatments are done with special Environ serums that are infused into the skin by using the combination of iontophoresis and sonophoresis.
