What Is Botulinum Toxin?
Botulinum Toxin is a naturally occurring protein derived from the Bacterium Clostridium Botulinum. The popular brand names used in the U.K. are BOTOX®, DYSPORT® and VISTABEL®.
A purified form of this protein can be used cosmetically to smooth out and soften dynamic lines, restoring a more youthful, less stressed expression to your face.
Is Botox Safe?
Botox injections have been used safely and effectively by trained medical practitioners for over 20 years. It is the number one cosmetic procedure in the U.K. and is used by tens of thousands of clients every year.
How Does Botox Work?
It is a well known fact that animated and hyper dynamic facial expression over time will result in facial lines. This is because whenever you laugh, frown, squint or concentrate your facial muscles contract and your skin creases. As you get older, your skin loses its elasticity and the creases deepen into lines that become permanently etched on your face. Unfortunately, in some cases, this result comes earlier rather than later in life. The most common area of early onset is the crow's feet around the eyes, which can begin for people who are in their 20s. Other facial lines such as the frown lines and forehead lines usually present in your 30s, although a young person with an animated facial expression may present earlier. These lines can make you look worried, tired, and angry or stressed even when you are not.
By injecting tiny amounts of Botox very precisely into specific facial muscles, the nerve impulses responsible for the contraction of the muscles are blocked. This causes a temporary weakness or resting of that muscle, resulting in the overlying skin becoming smoother and less wrinkled.

What Are Dermal Fillers?
Dermal fillers are sterile gels used to plump up areas of the skin, making them look fuller and firmer.
Hyaluronic acid fillers such as Restylane® are the most commonly used fillers today. Hyaluronic acid is found naturally in the skin, joints and eyes. It is a precursor to collagen and is a natural and very effective humectant (water holding molecule). This helps to keep the skin supple and hydrated, and gives the skin volume. Over time the hyaluronic acid is broken down in the body.
The hyaluronic acid in fillers is cross-linked to slow down the natural absorption process. This gives these fillers a longevity of six to twelve months.
Are Dermal Fillers Safe?
There are many different types of dermal fillers on the market. It is my priority to use only temporary fillers with a high safety profile. The fillers used have undergone years of rigorous independent research and are proven to be safe and effective. The products do not contain any animal derivatives.
